Spring Pests
Rodents are probably the biggest issues pest control deals with during the Winter months. The shrinking food supply that most landscapes provide will have them exploring in locations that may include inside homes. Scratching in the walls is usually the first indication of a problem. Other signs may be droppings, urine smell and stains and chattering. With the fluctuating weather conditions of North Texas in the Winter, insect activity may slow down but rarely stops. Insects that are "hibernating" in the structure may be tricked into thinking Spring has arrived when we have several days of 60+ degree weather. Even on the coldest of days inside the structure may have favorable conditions for insect pests. Homes that have crawlspaces will stay rather warm under the structure, combined with possible moisture and clutter insects can thrive and show up on the interior of the house. Slab homes may provide warm soil for ants to set up inside the house itself along with species that live in the walls to begin with.
